USciences' Got Talent Proceeds Supported West Philadelphia Alliance for Children

Talent ShowThe Department of Campus Recreation recently hosted its annual USciences’ Got Talent Show on Thursday Oct. 8. This year's show showcased the talents of many different performers ranging from musicians, dancers, and rappers who showed off their talents to help raise more than $300 for the West Philadelphia Alliance for Children. First-place winner Erina White took home $75, while the second place prize of $50 went to Ashley Romano, and the third place prize of $25 went to Giancarlo Sicangco.

"Thank you to all of the participants for being brave enough to come on stage and share their talent with everyone," said Maria Mendolia, this year's event coordinator. "We know that can be tough, yet we feel this is a great opportunity to showcase the vast talents of our students."

This year's performers, included: Ashley Romao, Leigh Kissinger, Reena Concepcion, Leyu Zhang, Charlie Matli, Nuwar Ahmed, Joe Seares, Giancarlo Sicangco, Erina White, Chris Hoenninger, and last, but not least, Jesse Phillips and his group: Abdul Kande, Kymonne Duncan, Barbra Rojas, Juliann Reid and Feh Fogam-Fominyam.

She also thanked the following judges for volunteering their time: Gianna Iantosca, Ridhi Patel PharmD'11, Marc Caserio, athletic director;  Anthony Florendo, director of student life; USciences President Dr. Kate Mayes, and Marie Kiechel, friend of USciences.

As well as the countless number of volunteers: George Bulgar (an extra special thanks to George for running sound that night), Nick Lin, Shival Patel, Vishal Desai, Joey Harmon, Judy Lam, Nazeeb Chowdhury, Mike Rios, Jaime Ryan, Victoria Drews, Matthew Fox, Chris Mansi, Matt Mansi, Ashley Jackson, as well as Kathy Nguyen and Maria Mendolia for spearheading the production of this year’s show.  

"Thank you everyone who made it a point to come out and support all of the performers, we know they are grateful for the encouragement of their art," said Mendolia. "Qdoba, Royals, Evan’s, The Fruit Cart, and Linda's Cart also donated some great prizes for our contestants."
