Michael Evans P’97, Vice President/Chief Pharmacy Officer for Geisinger health system, co-wrote an article for the Harvard Business Review entitled "How Geisinger Health System Reduced Opioid Prescriptions." The company used various methods to reduce opioid prescriptions to help curb addiction to the pain-relieving medications.

Penn State News: Dickinson Law student receives American Society for Pharmacy Law scholarship

Marc Wagner PharmD’16, now a third-year law student at Penn State Dickinson Law, was recently named the recipient of the 2018 Fink Family Scholarship by the American Society for Pharmacy Law. Established by Joseph L. Fink III and his family, the scholarship supports a pharmacist attending law school who demonstrates academic, professional or service-related achievement and is most likely to use their law degree to further such achievement and contribute to the benefit of society.


Reading Eagle: Newsmakers

Jenny E. Jung PharmD’10 was appointed director of pharmacy, Montgomery for the Phoebe Pharmacy located in Colmar, The Reading Eagle reported. She is responsible for the overall operation of the pharmacy and new account rollouts.


Community News: New owners for Hopewell Pharmacy

Hopewell Pharmacy has been run for 31 years by James Palmieri and Gene Ragazzo, best friends who roomed together as students at Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science. However, when Palmieri bought out Ragazzo’s stake in the business four years ago, he approached his niece, JoAnn Hobson, also a USciences graduate, about selling the pharmacy to her. Alumna Jocelyn Konrad, Rite Aid Applauds New Law Signed By President Trump to Help Fight Opioid Abuse

Rite Aid Executive Vice President of Pharmacy Jocelyn Konrad P’92 was recognized at the White House last week as President Donald J. Trump signed the Substance Use-Disorder Prevention that Promotes Opioid Recovery and Treatment (SUPPORT) for Patients and Communities Act.


Joseph Kenny DPT'15 Deploys with USNS Comfort on Medical Assistance Mission in South and Central America

U.S. Navy hospital ship USNS Comfort departed Naval Station Norfolk, Virginia, Oct. 10, on an 11-week medical assistance mission to South and Central America where personnel will work closely with host-nation health and government partners in Ecuador, Peru, Colombia and Honduras. Joseph Kenny DPT’15 is deployed with the Comfort.


Contagion: Plazomicin: A Novel Aminoglycoside

Maria Heaney co-authored a paper for Contagion Live entitled “Plazomicin: A Novel Aminoglycoside.” Heaney is a PGY2 resident in infectious diseases pharmacy at Temple University School of Pharmacy in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She completed her PharmD at the University of the Sciences Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and a PGY1 residency at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

In 2009, Ms. Knowlton co-founded TRHC, a healthcare technology company advancing the field of medication safety. Dr. Knowlton received her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy and Doctorate in Pharmacy from the University of the Sciences.
