About Dr. Parvanta

Dr. Parvanta’s research interests include health behavior change, health and risk communication, and global disease prevention and control. She served as the director of health communication at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) from 1999-2005.

Recently, Dr. Parvanta co-authored Essentials of Public Health Communication (Jones and Bartlett Publishers, LLC), which is part of The Essential Public Health Series.

Dr. Parvanta received her PhD from the University of Pennsylvania, where she also received her MA and BA in anthropology.
