Who will be the University’s leader after Sept. 1, 2011?
Chairman of the Board Marvin Samson will act as transition leader.

When will a new president be named?
USciences is committed to finding the best possible presidential candidate to lead the University into the future. A presidential search committee will be formed in accordance with the University By-Laws:

“The Chair of the Board of Trustees, after consultation with the Executive Committee, shall appoint a Search Committee whose function it shall be to search for and study all available candidates and then make suitable recommendations to the Board of Trustees.”

What is the makeup of the Search Committee?
The Committee shall consist of four members of the Board of Trustees selected by the Chair of the Board after consultation with the Executive Committee, one of whom shall be appointed by the Chair of the Board as Chair of the Committee. Mr. Samson has recently announced that alumna and board member Kathleen Mayes P'76, PharmD'78 will head up the search committee. The other members include, two members of the faculty of the University selected by the Faculty Senate and one alumnus/a of the University who is neither a member nor a retired member of the Board of Trustees nor the faculty and selected by the Board of Directors of the Alumni Association. The Chair of the Board shall also select, after consultation with the Executive Committee, one corporate officer to serve as a non-voting member of the Search Committee. The Search Committee may also appoint a non-voting student representative, who shall be selected by the Dean of Students.

It will be business as usual. There will be no disruption of services, education, or activities.
