PhillyBurbs.com: Boyd's Pharmacy in Florence has a prescription for business success

For three generations, Boyd’s Pharmacy has been dispensing pills and reassurance to area residents and their families. Pharmaceutical training is more extensive today even than it was when L. Clark Boyd was in school. According to Joseph Montalto, one of three pharmacists on the staff, the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy has replaced its four-year program with a six-year course of study that culminates in a doctor of pharmacy degree.

Alumnus George J. Malmberg, Chief Executive Officer of Wedgewood Pharmacy, Passes Away

George J. Malmberg, P’72, RPh, FACA, FACVP, who co-founded Wedgewood Pharmacy with his wife, USciences Trustee Lucy Malmberg, P’72, RPh, FACA, FACVP, passed away April 22 following a brief illness. Profile America: Susan Hayhurst, nation's first woman pharmacist

U.S. Census Bureau Daily Feature for March 16: Profile America — Two young women, who were the first Americans of their gender to enter their professions, are highlighted during this Women's History Month ... And this month in 1883, Susan Hayhurst became the nation's first woman pharmacist, when she graduated from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy. She's further distinguished by obtaining that degree while already being a physician…Among the nation's 186,000 pharmacists, women comprise over 52 percent.

University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy: Fink Receives Honorary Doctorate

Joseph L. Fink III was presented with an honorary doctor of science degree by his alma mater, the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on February 21. The recognition came as part of the University’s annual Founder’s Day celebration.

Echo Pilot: Greencastle’s oldest business changes hands

Carl's Drug Store has been sold by Frank Ervin to Rodger Savage, who plans to keep the legacy of the independent pharmacy going. Ervin grew up in the business and headed to Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science.
